This vehicle is registered, insured and driven - 99% original - many new mechanical parts - tires, belts, battery, altenator, voltage regulator, power steering pump & box, hoses & radiator, gas tank dropped, cleaned, fuel pump rebuilt and new gas guage sending unit, carbuerator rebuilt, new rear air shocks, and plug cables. The trunk shows minor surface rust, but weather strip was replaced and is now dry.
Conceived by Edsel Ford as a step up from V-8-powered Ford cars, the MERCURY brand was strongly aligned with LINCOLN after World War II. This connection reached a new level in 1965 when Parklane featured Lincoln-esque styling combined with luxury appointments and the quiet ride that came from the full-sized Mercury's new suspension 'like riding on a cloud' - The big-block V-8 engine was carried over from 1964, nearly everything else about the full-sized 1965 Mercury Parklane, which rode on 123-inch wheelbases and stretched 218.4 inches long, was new.
The flaws can be viewed below : some chrome is pitted, shows o.k. but some could use replating - the white headliner has a small hole and could use gentle cleaning or dye - has two spots of paint bubbling on the top of both front fenders, but still shows very good - the vehicle appears to have been painted and chasis undercoated at some point before we acquired it, and rear left bumper end has minor damage.
This Great Classic Cruiser still turns heads with its' Lincoln luxury, style and performance while preserving the pocketbook with down-to-earth price tag. See full photo slideshow below - Please EMAIL questions and CALL for showing & purchase 203-988-3290
